Angels and Insects

This is a movie that is completely messed up. However, I do appreciate the undermeaning thoughts put into this movie. I believe that the directors and the writers of the movie were trying to suggest that the natural sciences are in a way able to change how we as humans behave. Through the ant colonies and just how the behavior of the ants reflects the behavior of the characters as a whole.

The characters who were maids and those who were not of the elite class always wore the color black and the characters who were of the elite class wore red. The clothing colors are colors that are representative of the ant colonies that Williams and Maddie were drawning observations and writing about. The colors that they wear are represented in their ablitity to move and be seen within society.

The lower class, those in the dark and black clothing are able to move freely, able to go to the kitchen, the horse stables, the private rooms, everywhere. Unlike those who wear the red colored clothing, they are only seen in the areas where they need to go, such as the stables, outside, and in their bedrooms.

Also,
Something fun that I did pick up on in class was the fact that Professor Lane mentioned that Eugenics, which is the breding to make different variations, such as in dogs. They're all dogs, but there are different types of dogs and I thought it was funny how Eugenia's name and Eugenics are so similar in language, plus the possible parrelle between how Eugenia was making a different bred within the Adamson family.
